The purpose of these fire regulations is to prevent fires and protect life and health. We therefore ask that the points below be taken into account and that everyone contributes to making this a safe campsite.
1. Security for residential units
1. Safety distance between camping units must be at least 4 meters. As of January 1st, 2022, a camping unit is defined as follows:
-
The camping unit is the total area available to each individual tenant.
-
Everything the tenant wishes to have on their site must be placed within the boundaries of the camping unit.
-
Only mobile items may be kept in the safety zone, and cars may be parked there.
-
Generally, these distance rules also apply to tents, motorhomes, and other short-term rental units (tourist pitches).
-
This rule is not retroactive; therefore, a 3-meter distance may still apply to previously established sites.
2. The requirement for an 8-meter distance between low-rise structures no longer applies:
-
There is no distinction made between insulated and uninsulated installations. Decks/patios must be as low as possible, with the highest point no more than 50 cm above the ground.
-
Fences, windbreaks, and other flammable installations are not permitted. Exceptions are made where the terrain requires a fence, provided that safety distances and/or TEK 17 regulations are followed.
-
Buildings that do not meet TEK 17 standards are not accepted, though exceptions may be made if they do not interfere with Utvika Camping’s (UC) management of the area.
-
The distance between units is measured from outer edge to outer edge, and structures must be a maximum of 3.5 meters high.
3. All living units must have a smoke detector and a fire extinguisher (minimum 2 kg):
-
Permanent installations, such as cabins and seasonal pitches, must have a 6 kg extinguisher.
-
We also highly recommend installing a gas detector in units that use gas.
4. Gas and electrical connections must be checked regularly:
-
Gas hoses must be replaced at least every 3 years, and gas regulators at least every 5 years.
-
Any faults or defects must be repaired immediately to avoid dangerous situations. Gas cylinders must always be stored in upright containers.
2. Safety for nail tents and insulated awnings
1. The size of the nail tent/insulated awning must, according to Hole Municipality's requirements, be a maximum of 15 m2. If a larger size is desired, the municipality must be contacted in accordance with the Planning and Building Act.
2. Building materials must have properties that do not make unacceptable contributions to fire development.
3. In tents with nails and insulated awnings, there is a requirement that the electrical installation be permanent. This means that arrangements with extension cords are not accepted.
4. Electrical installation must be approved by an electrician and a declaration of conformity must be available. This must be kept in the accommodation unit so that it is easily accessible for inspection.
5. Electrical checks carried out by professionals are done every 5 years until the trailer and/or tent is 15 years old, and after that every 2 years.
6. Self-inspection of one's own unit must be done each year by May 15th.
3. Open fire/grill
1. It is not permitted to light a fire inside the campsite. Fires must be lit with an application, and the landowner is responsible for the application. At events such as St. Hans, this must be in order.
2. Grilling should be done in a safe manner, and always with adults present. Make sure the area around the grill is free of flammable materials and that fire extinguishing equipment is nearby. The use of disposable grills should be avoided, but if one is used, it should be placed on a solid surface, never on grass or wooden decking. The grills in the grill area are free to use, but make sure that the heat from the grills does not pose a danger to others when you are finished.
3. Used barbecue charcoal and disposable barbecues must be placed in a separate container (located outside the environmental station).
4. The storm kitchen must be kept well away from tent cloth and other flammable materials. The appliance must be turned off when filling.
5. Lighter fluid, methylated spirits, gasoline and other substances harmful to health should be stored out of reach of children and animals, preferably locked up.
4. What to do in case of fire
1. Notify all neighbors as soon as possible, and make sure to get them out.
2. Call 110 to contact the fire department, then notify the reception +47 932 46 230
3. Close propane cylinders and move them away. Move away from cars and other objects that could spread the fire.
4. Start extinguishing the fire, but do not put yourself or others at risk.
5. Meeting place in case of fire is at the parking lot, west of the barn.
